May 8, 2014, Review Executive Summary and Discuss Smart Growth America Code Audit

The staff reviewed the Committee's Objective, progress the Committee has made, the Committee's Plan Recommendations and the Next Step - Code Audit. Smart Growth America Code Audit is audits of local land use codes with respect to sustainability topics/issues. The Committee selected 4 focus topics. They were: community health, urban agriculture, housing diversity and green infrastructure and water quality. A copy of the presentation is available online.



March 13, 2014, Discuss Potential Changes of the Draft Plan

Committee discuss additions, changes and elimination of the Draft Plan and then discussed adoption.



February 13, 2014, Review & Continued Sticky Note Discussion Meeting

In this city Center meeting, the committee members jotted down things they liked most and least about the plan and placed them on the wall under the headings of Historic Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown. Then notes of similar content were grouped together and discussed by the committee. Also discussed potential City Center Capital Projects. You can download a copy of that presentation here.



January 16, 2014, Sticky Note Discussion Meeting

At the last City Center meeting, Staff reviewed major elements of previous meetings over the last year. The committee members jotted down things they liked most and least about the plan and placed them on the wall under the headings of Historic Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown. Then notes of similar content were grouped together and discussed by the committee.



These discussions lead to some very interesting incites. Unfortunately, we did not get finished so we need to pick-up where we left off. On the bright side, this also opens up the opportunity for all to add to your list and discuss at our February meeting. December 12, 2013, Implementation Plan Meeting

To advance the community's ideas for the City Center beyond the approval of the City Center Development Plan, the design team reviewed with the City Center Advisory Committee an implementation program defining the sequence of activities required to realize recommendations presented in the City Center Development Plan. November 14, 2013, Land Use / Street Typology Concept Plan Meeting

The design team reviewed a revised Land Use concept plan which included significant changes to Historical Downtown Concept Plan. Also, a discussion took place regarding the street and block plan that describes the street typology for new and proposed street sections. The design team also unveiled an Illustrative for the entire City Center. Please review the entire presentation.



May 9, 2013 - Market Study Meeting

The design team reviewed the vision statements and impressions from the Mobile Workshop conducted on February 23rd. Next, they presented a draft concept plan based on the existing site's issues and opportunities and market study. The presentation is available for download.



February 23, 2013, Mobile Workshop #1

The mobile workshop highlighted mixed-use projects in the Metroplex that demonstrate compatible land uses, pleasant streetscapes, and encourage pedestrian activity. The objective was for the Committee members to observe and evaluate the application of these concepts in the real world. The Committee's observations and discussions will continue with the design team on March 7th. State / Thomas in Dallas, Addison Circle in Addison and Legacy Town Center in Plano were visited. February 7, 2013, Visioning for Uptown & Midtown Meeting

Freese and Nichols continue the discussion of a vision for both the Uptown and Midtown Districts based on the results of the market study. Also, the design team will begin focusing on topics such as street typology, land use mix, and the scale for the next meeting.



January 10, 2013 - Market Study Meeting

The CCAC members met with the design team to review the market study results and to begin formulating vision statements for Midtown and Uptown.



Paris Rutherford, with Catalyst Urban Development, reviewed the findings of the Market Study, which identified the market conditions necessary for mixed-use / transit oriented development in the City Center. The study also identified relevant competitive locations in the city and nearby sub-markets throughout the Metroplex. Also, Dan Sefko, with Freese and Nichols, facilitated a discussion on the vision for the Uptown and Midtown Districts based on the results of the market study.



December 13, 2012 - Kick-Off Meeting

The objective for this meeting was to provide the committee the opportunity to meet and greet other City Center Advisory Committee (CCAC) members, receive their charge from the Mayor, and review previous planning efforts in regards to the City Center. This meeting's agenda and a presentation, given by Rod Tyler, Director of Planning, of all the planning efforts leading up to the next phase of the City Center Plan are available online.


March 23, 2010


City Council reviewed the final version of the City Center Plan, and adopted a resolution establishing a vision, goals and strategies to promote a transit-oriented development in the City Center.

February 9, 2010


The consultants provided a presentation along with a draft of the City Center Plan to City Council for their review for comment.


January 21, 2010


The committee reviewed the City Center Concept Plan . This report includes a summary of all analysis done to date, including the Cedar Hill Opportunity; Vision, Goals and Concept Diagram: Concept Plans; and Implementation Strategies. December 10, 2009


To help identify a preferred station location, a pro and con analysis was conducted using the City Center Vision, Goals and Objectives, the Comprehensive Plan goals, and the technical station requirements. A Pros and Cons Analysis Chart was prepared for each location as means to show both the benefits and drawbacks of each site. The committee debated the pros and cons of each location. Additionally, the committee reviewed the Existing Conditions Analysis . The power point presentation shown at this meeting can be found online.

September 3, 2009


In a workshop format, a meeting was held on Thursday, September 3rd, to obtain input on draft goals and objectives along with a concept diagram for the transit station area planned for Downtown Cedar Hill. There was an opportunity for the TOD Advisory Committee to make comment and ask questions during the meeting. The power point presentation shown at this meeting can be found online.

August 20, 2009


At the first meeting of the TOD Advisory Committee reviewed the boundaries of the study area. Then they began to identify and prioritize issues in the downtown / uptown area of Cedar Hill. Specifically, the committee concentrated their efforts on identifying opportunities and constraints in the area. Finally, they defined features at other stations they would like to see in Cedar Hill.
