In November 2017, voters approved $15 million for development and improvement of parks and recreation facilities throughout the city, with a special emphasis on improving accessibility to parks and play structure for children of all abilities. We are excited to announce the rebuild of the Virginia Weaver Park Creative Playground. This project is a $600,000 inclusive playground that will not only have the latest in playground equipment, but will be an all-inclusive playground for children of all ages and abilities.
The new creative playground will total 12,000 square feet, will be made of 100% recycled plastic lumber that will resemble the existing wooden playground at the park. Construction is currently underway.
The City of Cedar Hill invites community organizations and businesses to become a financial sponsor of the creative playground at Virginia Weaver Park. Your financial partnership, memorialized at the park, will help to create a vibrant play space that will encourage social connections and physical activities for children of all ages. Find more information here.
Construction has begun and community members can leave a lasting mark on the project by purchasing a personalized fence picket that will be displayed at the playground. Pickets are available for purchase for $100 here. These pickets are made from 100% recycled milk jugs - each one using material from about 42 milk jugs! Keep in mind, there is a 22 character limit (with spaces) on these pickets. For more information give us a call at 972-291-5130.
