2017 TAX YEAR PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX RATE FOR THE CITY OF CEDAR HILL, TX
 

A tax rate of $0.698760 per $100 valuation has been proposed for adoption by the governing body of the City of Cedar Hill.

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be conducted by the City
Council for the City of Cedar Hill, Texas on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 
7:00 pm in the T.W. "Turk" Cannady Cedar Hill Room, located in the Cedar
Hill Government Center, 285 Uptown Blvd. Cedar Hill, Texas; consideration
and adoption of the proposed Operating Budget and the Capital
Improvement Plan for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 will be on September 12, 2017 
at 7:00 pm. This budget will raise more total property taxes
than last year's budget by $1,496,636 or (6.61%) and of
that amount $236,263 is tax revenue to be raised from
new property added to the roll this year.

CONSIDERATION AND ADOPTION OF THE FY 2017-2018 CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT (CCPD) BUDGET


The Crime Control and Prevention District Board of Directors held a public hearing and accepted the FY 2017-18 budget on June 20, 2017.  Notice is hereby given to all interested persons that the City Council for the City of Cedar Hill, Texas  will consider adoption of the proposed FY 2017-18 Budget for the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD)  on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 7:pm, in the T.W. “Turk” Cannady/Cedar Hill Room, located in the Cedar Hill Government Center, 285 Uptown Blvd. Cedar Hill, Texas, 75104; in accordance with Section 363.205 of the Texas Local Government Code.

A copy of the proposed FY 2017-18 Budget for the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) budget is available for inspection during the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday in the Office of the City Secretary, located in the Cedar Hill Government Center, 285 Uptown Blvd, Cedar Hill, Texas or select this link for a copy of the Proposed FY 2017-18 CCPD Budget.

Responsibilities
The Finance Department's function is to collect, disburse, safeguard, invest and maintain records of the city's assets. Funds are deposited daily but purchase orders and check payment authorizations are paid weekly. Safeguarding the city's assets is accomplished through internal controls and separation of duties among the finance personnel.

The mission of the Finance Department is to provide the City of Cedar Hill with:
  • Fiscally prudent financial accounting
  • Debt management
  • Investment services
  • Purchasing services
Additional Functions
Debt management:
  • Prepare bond rating and insurance information for debt issuance
  • Coordinate issuance of debt
  • Conduct maturity payments
Investments:
  • Manage city funds
  • Make sound investments per city investment policy and Public Funds Investment Act
  • Investment performance reporting
  • Maintain authorized broker / dealer list
Purchasing:
  • Conduct citywide bids
  • Contract administration
  • Participate in cooperative-purchasing program
