Flowering Dogwood Blooms Guided Hikes

Saturday, March 30, 2019

This is a unique opportunity to see flowering dogwoods (Cornus florida) in bloom in Dallas County. This hike also gives visitors a sneak peek of our newest trail coming soon.

Nearly 20 years ago, David Hurt unexpectedly stumbled upon this grove of dogwoods, a species typically found in the Pineywoods and post oak belts of East Texas, making this a rare and remarkable find for the Dallas area. His story of the history of the center and his discovery will keep you engaged on the hike.

Right now, we are just taking contact information from those interested. Until we get a sense of when the blooms will happen, it's difficult to schedule, but we are fairly confident it will occur during this date range.

Express your interest by getting on our waitlist. There is no cost to be added to the waitlist and you are not obligated to purchase a ticket. You will be the first to know when registration goes live and will have 24 hours to purchase tickets before the ticket link is made available to the public.

The cost will be $25 and includes:
- Guided hike by David Hurt
- Wine and snacks after the hike
- Sneak peek of the new trail
- Meet our American Kestrel, our live education bird
- Plan for the event to last 2-3 hours

Please note that this is a moderately strenuous trail with a hiking length of approximately 3 miles.
