Fats, Oils & Grease
Fats, oils and grease (FOG) should never be put down the drain. Simple steps around the kitchen can help you avoid having a PAIN in the DRAIN! When you put cooking wastes down the drain, it sticks to the inside of pipes and to other FOG causing blockages and backups, costing you time and money. Not only does FOG cling to the insides of the pipes under your home and yard, it can also accumulate in City sewer mains under streets, parks and other properties. FOG can eventually block sewer mains to the point that sewage will back up and overflow from a manhole. Nearby properties and streams can be polluted from an overflow killing aquatic life and requiring a costly clean up process.
