[ARCHIVED] Adopt-A-Soldier Program Benefits Troops - 114 boxes sent so far

Adopt-A-Soldier logo

The Mayor’s Adopt-A-Soldier program is your chance to adopt an overseas soldier and show them how much you care during this upcoming holiday season and beyond. You can adopt a soldier within your Department or School, as a family or just by yourself; Either way, each adopted soldier will know that you care.

Anyone and everyone can participate in this program simply by purchasing a $10 prepaid postage box and fill it with whatever you'd like. There is no weight limit or item limit, and the postage takes care of the cost to ship the box filled with whatever you like.

A Soldier's Wish List of suggested items will be included in the box. To get your box, simply purchase one at the Information desk of the Government Center, fill it and return it to the Information desk when you are ready to send. To guarantee your box gets there by Christmas, return it by December 1st.

ALSO - Please send us names of the men and women soldiers you know who are overseas so that we can add them to the adoption list. No matter if they are a friend, neighbor, son, daughter, husband, wife, niece, or nephew - send their complete name and APO (Army Post Office) address to Amanda Baker by email at or by phone at 972.291.5100 x1007. Please pass this information on as our goal is to adopt as many soldiers as possible.

Thank you in advance for your time and support of our troops serving this country.
