Can you believe what recycling has done for Cedar Hill?
Since January '08, the citizens of Cedar Hill have recycled over 1,750 tons of recyclable materials, diverted 5,300 cubic yards of waste from going to hte landfill and saved approximately 30,000 trees. THe efforts done by each and every citizen taht recycles is making a big difference, but the fact is that only about 34% of Cedar Hill citizens recycle on an average basis. If we could get the rest of the population to start recycling, just think of what a difference could make in our City and the environment simply by recycling.
Recycling is easy! No sorting is necessary and Waste Management will pick it up right in front of your house (or alley). Citizens are not charged any more for this service and much of what you put in the trash can be recycled.
Recycleable items include, but are not limited to,
glass and plastic bottles, aluminum and steel food and beverage cans, cardboard and junk mail, cereal boxes, paper towel roles, newspapers and magazines, aerosol cans, as well as emptied and rinsed out detergent bottles. Items that can not be recycled are: styrofoam, pizza boxes, aluminum foil, light bulbs, plastic grocery bags, adn ceraqmic containers and dishes.
As a reminder all residential recycling is picked up on Wednesdays. Should you have any questions, please refer to the City's website for updates or call (972) 291-5100 ext. 1007.
