Tip #1: Look for Staff at Community Events

Be on the lookout for Staff from the Planning Department and members of the Cedar Hill Next Think Tank at upcoming events. You will have a chance to ask them questions about the Comprehensive Plan process, participate in engagement activities, take planning specific surveys, and more!

Tip #2: Check out

Visit for the latest information on the planning process, upcoming events, and ways to share your thoughts and ideas right there online.

If you have missed a meeting, not to worry! Recordings, notes or activities (like the “If I Were Cedar Hill Worksheet” for kids to submit) will be posted there so that you can catch up and participate as well.

Tip #3: Participate in On the Table

Your voice matters. And when we share our voices and listen to each other, we have the power to make Cedar Hill even better. It simply takes a conversation. This is why we have initiated the "On the Table" program.

We know that big ideas can spring from small conversations and that people invest in what they help create. For “Cedar Hill Next”, we are committed to bringing people together to create a more generous, vibrant and engaged community. “On the Table” is an opportunity to gather over mealtime-type conversations to build personal connections and explore how we can work together to make our community stronger. We invite you and your families, neighbors, colleagues, and friends — old and new — to pull up a chair, share a meal or dessert or coffee, and discuss the ways in which we — as individuals and as a collective — can, and do, work to improve the quality of life and economic vitality in Cedar Hill. For more information on the program, please go to “On The Table” and register.

Tip #4: Take the “Cultivating the Future” Survey

In addition to attending events to share your thoughts and ideas on the future of Cedar Hill, be sure to share your ideas via the "Cultivating the Future Survey" or “Cultivando el Futuro Encuesta” found at under the "Cedar Hill Next: Comprehensive Plan Update" section of the website. Participating in the quick survey gives the team great information to help develop a unique plan for Cedar Hill founded on the ideas of the residents.

Tip #5: Connect with the Think Tank

Cedar Hill’s community engagement and participation are like no other and it is because of the great leadership within the community.

For the Cedar Hill Next process, 27 fellow residents have volunteered to be a part of a Think Tank. The Think Tank is comprised of members from City Leadership (City Council; Planning & Zoning Commission; Economic Development Corporation; Historic Downtown Advisory Board; Parks & Recreation Board; Neighborhood Advisory Board; and Cedar Hill ISD) and Community Leadership (neighborhoods, churches, and businesses).

This group has committed to help generate significant community involvement, act as a sounding board to testing ideas and tell the team about general issues they are hearing from the community.

Be on the lookout for these individuals too as a source for sharing thoughts and ideas related to the Comprehensive Plan.

Tip #6: Attend the PlanapaloozaTM Event

What in the world is PlanapaloozaTM? Well, it is an interactive planning process that runs on the energy of the community!

PlanapaloozaTM is an intense, participatory design and visioning process where you are invited to work directly with your neighbors, City Staff, and a multidisciplinary consultant team to provide input on your vision for the community's future.

This multi-day event will occur December 4 -9 in Hillside Village (in the former University of Phoenix Space next to Dick’s Sporting Goods) 305 FM1382, CEDAR HILL, TX 75104.

The workshop will include several public focus meetings, open studio time where anyone is invited to come and see what the team is doing/sketching, as well as different hands-on workshop activities to participate in. The event will conclude with a progress presentation on Monday, December 9. Find out more about Planapalooza.TM
