The Who
The Citizens Leadership Academy is open to any Cedar Hill resident who wants to learn and be more engaged with their community:
Participants must be 18 years or older
Participants must not be running for political office during class time
The What
As a participant, you’ll enjoy unique opportunities to:
Engage in interactive, behind-the-scenes sessions
Meet City Council and staff members
Explore leadership and service opportunities
Visit City facilities and departments
The Why
The Citizens Leadership Academy exists to empower residents to take an active role in shaping Cedar Hill’s future while fostering a stronger, more connected community. It exists to:
Inspire residents to engage actively with City leaders and their community
Provide hands-on experiences that build leadership skills and civic knowledge
Strengthen connections between residents and local government to foster collaboration
The When
This is the final schedule for the Class of 2025. Thursday sessions will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday sessions from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Thursday, September 25: Introductions & Servant Leadership
Saturday, October 4: Public Safety
Thursday, October 9: Public Works & Neighborhood Services
Thursday, October 16: Library & Planning
Thursday, October 23: Parks and Recreation
Thursday, October 30: Cedar Hill ISD
Saturday, November 8: Community Tour with Economic Development & Tourism
Tuesday, November 11: Celebratory mixer at 6 p.m. and Graduation at 7 p.m. during City Council
The Where
Sessions will be held at different locations depending on the session and topic. Locations and program details will be shared with participants.
For example, during the Public Safety session, participants will meet at the Grady Lamb Building
The Cost
The cost for each participant to go through the program is FREE.
All participants will walk away with invaluable information about our City, it’s future, along with a new network of resources and engaged leaders
