Annual Neighborhood Awards
In 2025, the Neighborhood Advisory Board will proudly celebrate 21 years of honoring neighborhood organizations throughout the City of Cedar Hill for their outstanding efforts to enhance the quality of life in their communities.
Each year, these awards recognize neighborhoods that demonstrate excellence in:

Beautiful and Environmentally Sustainable recognizes a neighborhood group with a successful sustainable or revitalization effort in the prior year. The award recognizes neighborhoods that improve their physical space—including, but not limited to, litter abatement, beautifying their space, and improving wildlife sustainability.
Revitalization & Sustainability
- Briefly describe your beautification or revitalization project, highlighting its innovation, creativity, or uniqueness.
- Outline the key steps your group took to implement the project, detailing resident involvement at each stage.
- Explain how the project encouraged volunteer leadership and skill-building.
- Finally, describe any features that make the project sustainable, such as low-maintenance design, self-sufficiency, or an ongoing maintenance plan.
- Please attach photos of your project and any other supporting documents.
Prize: $150.00
Heart of Cedar Hill celebrates a neighborhood association that makes residents feel connected by focusing on social or cultural aspects of a neighborhood. The award is given to the association that exhibits the best spirit of neighborliness in the prior year through activities that promote working, playing or celebrating together.
Cultural Collaboration & Volunteerism
- Explain how your neighborhood promotes strong ethics, integrity, and positive behavior.
- Describe your group's volunteer efforts both locally and citywide.
- Highlight the diversity of your volunteers and their impact.
- Share how you encourage neighbors to work together in creative or unique ways, with examples like community events, helping residents in need, serving on boards, or organizing regular meetings.
- Please submit photos and any other supporting documentation.
Prize: $150.00
Neighbors First honors a neighborhood group that built strong partnerships and led a creative civic initiative to tackle a local challenge and drive positive change in their community or city.
Partnership Building & Neighborhood Engagement
- Describe your neighborhood’s partnerships with schools, businesses, churches, non-profits, and other groups.
- How did these partnerships help your efforts?
- Share how your organization uses people, money, and resources to support families and keep the neighborhood clean and safe. Include examples like events, code enforcement, crime watch, or fundraising.
- Please submit photos and any other supporting documentation.
Prize: $150.00
Health and Wellness Award honors a significant effort in the prior year on the part of a neighborhood organization to come together in the name of improving their health and wellness. This could be anything from forming a weekly exercise group to hosting community exercise events to improving access to recreational amenities.
Health & Wellness
- Describe your health and wellness project including significant neighborhood and/or business involvement and cooperation.
- Describe the diversity of participants in ability, age, culture, economic background, race, etc.
- Describe the extent of volunteer contributions to the project.
- Describe how your health and wellness project was funded, including the extent of self-help and minimal reliance on outside funding sources.
- Please submit photos and any other supporting documentation.
Prize: $150.00
Premier Neighborhood of the Year may be selected from all finalists in the Beautiful and Environmentally Sustainable, Heart of Cedar Hill, Neighbors First, and Health & Wellness award categories.
You will be required to elaborate on each focus:

Prize: $300.00
Block Party Trailer: As part of the Premier Neighborhood of the Year Award, the Block Party Trailer is automatically reserved for the neighborhoods use during National Night Out.
Cedar Hill Neighbor of the Year recognizes an individual who has given outstanding service to positively affect the lives of individuals in their neighborhood—a true “unsung hero” of the community.
You will be required to provide the nominee's name & elaborate on the below topics.
- Describe how the nominee has supported your community in the previous year.
- Describe how the nominee’s actions have had an impact on neighbors and the neighborhood.
- Describe how the nominee’s efforts produced results in the face of challenges or adversity.
- Please submit photos and any other supporting documentation.
